Yearly Highlights!
2010
This year we had a few changes down at the dock. Ryan Shannon did a fantastic job as Dock Supervisor, working with Michael Weldon, Robyn Burns, and Katrina Miller to ensure that all of our programs ran smoothly. Caitlin Mader was our sailing instructor during the 2010 season – providing all newcomers with interesting and informative White Sail classes. We appreciate the hard work put in by all staff, and would like to particularly thank Ryan and Barry for their dedication and commitment. See you all out on the water in 2010!
We had a total of 1896 volunteer hours this year, with 47 active volunteers, averaging about 40 hours each. This is an amazing thing for our organization, and we cannot thank our volunteers enough for all their hard work over the summer. These volunteers worked the Stampede breakfast, volunteered on committees, served on the Board of Directors and acted as Sailing Companions. We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all of our volunteers, without whom we would not be able to run our programs. Special thanks to those volunteers who responded to our calls from the dock to come out and act as sailing companions. We know that we called upon you a lot this year, but you proved you were up to the challenge! Thank you.
This year our programs included independent sails, community partner events as well as racing and outreach programs.
- Our Community Partnership delivered 423 sailing sessions to children, adults and seniors. We enjoy the opportunity of working with our Community Partners to enhance their programs. They are a great group of dedicated people, and it is our pleasure to be associated with them.
- We had 191 hours of sailing sessions enjoyed through our Independent Sailing Program. Our Wednesday night racing totaled 41 hours.
- This year we offered White Sail 1 & II in July, with White Sail III following in August and had 15 students attend.
- We were gratefully supported by a number of corporations, foundations, small businesses and individuals with monetary and merchandise donations.
