DSA Alberta employs both year-round and summer staff (May - August).  Our summer staff are College or University Students in Education, Phys Ed or Recreation Rehab programs and love the outdoors and working with people.  At the DSA Alberta, there's lots of room for you to contribute your creativity to enhance our Programs and Services.

2007-11 We have filled the Senior Program Coordinator position for the 2008 season, however the three Program Coordinator positions are still open.


Senior Program Coordinator/Instructor :

DESIREABLE SKILLS:
Must be a team player, with excellent planning and organizing abilities. Must be a self starter and be able to work independently. Will be required to coach and ensure sailing companions are qualified. Will coordinate activities, be safety minded, follow procedures, have a high energy level and be computer literate. Must have sailing experience and be an Instructor at Level 1 (Green) or higher. Should have experience working with people with disabilities, or be enrolled in a course of study in a related field.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Program Coordinator/Instructor under the direction of the Business Manager oversees the day-to-day operation of recreational sailing programs for disabled children and adults, in Calgary and other centres in Alberta. Supervises operations staff, and ensure a positive public image of contribution to the community. Instructs the Learn-to-sail programs at the level qualified for and insures qualified instructors for all lessons. Is capable of maintaining our fleet in good working order and is responsible to have all maintenance done in a timely manner with the correct parts. If it is necessary to have a boat repaired off site will ensure this is done.

The position requires some hours prior to start up May 1, 2007 to set up programs and schedules, and to ensure that the boats and facility are ready for May 1.

Program Coordinators (3):

DESIREABLE SKILLS:
Must be a team player, with good planning and organizing abilities. Will be required to work with other staff, volunteers and clients in a demanding environment. Sailing experience at a White Sail III or higher level.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Program Coordinator under the direction of the Senior Program Coordinator/ Business Manager contributes in the day-to-day operation of recreational sailing programs for disabled children and adults, in Calgary (and in other centres in Alberta if there is an Outreach program in place). The Program Coordinator helps to ensure a positive public image of contribution to the community. If qualified to do so, instructs in the Learn-to-sail program at the level qualified for.
